FFX & X-2/philosophical stuff o_O

Posting in this thread made me realize a couple of things:

- X-2 wasn't completely cracky! In terms of Tidus coming back from the dead/non-existence (there were hints in X that Tidus wasn't gone forever)
- Nothing really exists until exposed to reality, no matter how lifelike or how much of a life it has. So I should really stop overthinking about doing certain things and actually start doing them.

Songs I've been obsessed with lately

(Mad Men!)

In my first year of college, when I took a class on AIDS that somehow counted toward the science breadth requirement even though half of it didn't cover scientific stuff, we got the chance to see Angels in America for extra credit. The second half of the series ruined my opinion of it, but I really liked the music throughout the series and a certain scene in the second half. I'm going through the soundtrack and am loving these:

Angels in America Main Title
Angels in America - Ellis Island

And the scene that's stuck with me since I saw it - from what I can remember, the main character in it has severe AIDS-related issues, his partner has left him (for a closeted married man), and he's being haunted by the ghosts of family members/his family's old prestige.

So I saw a link to this article, which mentioned its headline: "Carrie Prejean Discusses Sex Tape With Sean Hannity: "Worst Mistake Of My Life""

While reading the headline I missed the "tape" part...so I read it as "Carrie Prejean Discusses Sex With Sean Hannity: "Worst Mistake Of My Life""

Horrible and hilarious series of mental images are still running through my head. Even more disturbingly though, even if I hadn't skipped over the word "tape" I could've interpreted the situation as Prejean having made a sex tape with Hannity.

Writer's Block: Here's looking at you

What is your all-time favorite, romantic movie scene? What about it speaks to you?

It's way too late to be doing this, but I want to answer anyway....this scene/song-and-dance sequence from Jab We Met:

I tried answering the second question, but could only come up with fragments of sentences like that newspaper headline satirist guy Fred Armisen plays on SNL sometimes (like today) XD

I don't even like Bollywood/desi movies that much o_o

The similar sentence structure makes me chuckle xD

"My mind is not narrow, I just prefer not to have deviant behaviors presented as normal on television programming"

Reminds me of that thing Seth Meyers said on SNL recently about the interracial marriage being denied...

Justice of the Peace (who I guess denied the wedding): “I’m not a racist. I just don’t believe in mixing the races that way.”
Seth Meyers: "Note to all you racists, don’t follow up your initial claim of “I’m not a racist” with the definition of racist."

The last part of this story was posted today. It started out kind of darkly funny, but ended up being touching and thought-provoking.

Final Fantasy XIII

Didn't realize a trailer was already out XD. Looks really good imo, though I thought that about FFXII too, and a bunch of the characters look like characters from other games. I even saw a Vaan lookalike o_O. Lightning's voice seems cool (:B) but I can't believe they're actually using 'lightning' as a name >_<

Bigger, more interesting post about the weekend coming up, but first...

Sam Raimi’s Warcraft Movie Production Diary

And a stupid lol: Yesterday I was getting ready to have some waffles, and I looked in the fridge and saw that there were no sticks of butter in any of our butter tray things. So I got out a new, unopened box of butter sticks from the grocery store. I had a hard time opening it, and before I totally realized what was happening I gave myself a deep cut on my finger. In 12th grade I cut myself with a pencil, yesterday with a butter box. At least I wasn't in class this time, I guess XD. My mom was in the kitchen too, so I told her about the cut and the butter. Two seconds later, she found some butter already in a tray in the fridge...

The Darkside of FF7

My initial reaction to all this was along the lines of "wow, tl;dr-apalooza," but then I realized that it's pretty amazing that a game that came out 12 years ago is still being discussed so much. Doesn't seem like the Compilation has been drawn on much...

Secret #162

I have some inklings about the answers to this, but can anyone explain or suggest reasons why non-Americans would hate the U.S. as a whole? XD

Guesses:
- "Americans are wasteful"
- "Americans are stupid"
- something related to Hollywood
- general disgust with Republicans/conservatives/Bush?
- general emphasis on capitalism (i.e. profits above all) and relative lack of things like public transportation, easy access to healthcare, etc.?

Aa called and we talked for a while. Whew.

ANYWAYS, here is a really neat site that actually uses math concepts in an interesting and relevant way. Our original Statistics teacher showed it to us Fall quarter (the one in which Statistics was actually bearable).
